Oktoberfest is also referred to as the Munich Beer Fest. Over six million people attend this 16-day festival every year.

Although it doesn't start until September 20th this year, the contruction of the beer tents starts 3 months before! Booking yourself a table in the tents (which can often be a good idea) starts about 6 months before it starts!

Oktoberfest (Octoberfest) aquired this month-specific name because in the early years it indeed took place during October however since 1872 it has started in Septmeber and ends in October - basically to increase the chances of enjoying better weather!
